Finish work on Mitosis and the Cell Cycle
Decide if each of the following uses Sexual (S) or Asexual (A) Reproduction:
1. Requires only 1 parent.
2. The offspring are genetically different from the parent.
3. A Spider plant sends out stems with buds that grow into new plants.
4. Two parents are needed.
5. If a Planaria (a type of flatworm) is cut into pieces, each piece will grow into a new Planaria.
6. The offspring are identical to the parent.
7. Grizzly bears mate during early summer. The male deposits his sperm inside the female to fertilize her eggs. The eggs don't develop until the female begins hibernation.
Finish working on your Cell Cycle worksheet and the Mitosis viewing guide worksheet. Today we also reviewed mitosis and did an activity to help us remember what the chromosomes do in each phase of mitosis. Watch "The Mitosis Rap" to review the stages of mitosis.
