1. What are the 3 conditions that cause a chemical reaction? (hint: p. 147)
2. We call these conditions ______________ __________________.
Collision Theory
Collision Theory is an explanation of how atoms and molecules come together and react together. There are 3 conditions required for a reaction.
1. Atoms or molecules must collide
2. They must collide in the proper orientation (position)
3. They must collide with enough energy
Rate of Reaction
How quickly these reactions happen can be changed by adjusting one of 5 different factors. Watch the video below "How to Speed up Chemical Reactions (and Get a Date)" to learn about how you can speed up chemical reactions.

Endothermic vs. Exothermic Reactions
All reactions are classified as being either Endothermic or Exothermic. Watch the video below for a good description of the difference between the two.
